Mid Latitudes Climates

The mid latitudes is divided in 4: Mediterranean, Marine West Coast, Humid Sub tropical and Humid Continental.

Mediterranean- Rainy winter and Hot and sunny summer is called a Mediterranean zone. These are located in Southwest of Australia, South and Southwest of Europe, part North of Europe, part North of Africa, South Africa and Northeast of Antarctica.

Marine west coast- Hot summer, humid winter with abundant rains is call the Marine west coast. These are located in South California, North Europe, a part of South Africa, Southeast Australia and New York.

Humid sub tropical- Short and soft winter. It's rains almost every day. Wind patterns,
high pressures humidity levels. All of this is the Humid Sub tropical, these are located in Washington, Rio de Janeiro and Hong Kong.

Humid Continental- Short summer and it snow in the North with evergreens outnumbering deciduous trees is called Humid Continental. It's located in South Canada, Western Russia Northeast of China.

High Latitude Climates

High latitude climates are divided in four categories: Subarctic, Tundra, Ice Caps, and Mountainous regions.

Subarctic- The temperatures vary greatly (by as much as 120 degrees F) , the winters are very cold,  and the summers are short and cool. In some parts only a thin layer of surface soil thaws each summer; below it is only permafrost.

Tundra- They are regions closer to the polar regions. Tundra are very cold. The winter darkness last six months, and the Sun's indirect rays bring light, but no heat. There are no trees because of  the thin surface soil, only low bushes, short grasses, mosses, and lichen.

Ice caps- Snow and ice constantly cover the ice cap's surfaces. The temperatures average below freezing. Only lichen can survive in these regions.

Mountainous- They areas with high elevations. The vegetation varies with the altitude and region.

They are mainly found in the Northern Hemisphere, Antarctica, and Greenland.
*Mountains can be found all over the world.

Dry Climates

The dry climates are divided in two categories: Deserts and Steppes.

Deserts- They are areas with little plant life. Yearly, the rainfall is about 10 inches of rain. The temperatures vary widely, in the day it could be very hot but in the night it could be very cool; it also varies from season to season. Some deserts may support oasis, while some may be rocky, or have dunes. Others have fertile soil that can yield crops during irrigation.

Steppes-They are dry, largely treeless grassland bordering deserts. Steppes receive about 10-20 inches of rain a year.

They are mostly found over North America, South America, Africa, Australia, Western and Central Asia, and Eastern Europe.

Tropical Zone

The tropical zone is divided into 2- Raiforest and Savanna

Rainforest- It's name rainforest because it rain's almost every day. It's located in the low latitudes. Lush vegetation and abundat animals. Examples are The Amazon and "El Yunque". Rainforest are located in South America, The Caribbean, Asia, Africa and Australia.

Savanna- The hot winter and cold summer happens in the Savanna. The Savanna are located in Africa, Central America and South America.
